In the early 1970s, Jimmy Iovine became a recording engineer and worked with artists like John Lennon and Bruce Springsteen, among others. By 1973, Iovine worked at the Record Plant in New York, where he worked on albums like Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen and Bat Out of Hell by Meat Loaf. He became well-known because of the song “Because of the Night,” which was on Patti Smith’s 1978 album Easter.
Iovine worked on Damn the Torpedoes with Tom Petty, the Heartbreakers and Rattle and Hum with U2. Iovine also worked on Stevie Nicks’s first solo album, Bella Donna, and Dire Straits’s Making Movies and The Pretenders’ Get Close.
